1. What LekkerLift is

LekkerLift is an online marketplace that connects private drivers with empty seats (“Drivers”) to passengers looking for a ride (“Passengers”). We do not own vehicles, employ drivers, or operate as a transport provider. All trips are arranged directly between users.

2. Eligibility

• You must be 18 years or older and legally capable of entering into contracts.
• Drivers must hold a valid South African driver’s licence and have a roadworthy, insured vehicle.
• You must provide accurate profile information, including a clear face photo and contact details.
• You may not use the Platform for commercial taxi, chauffeur, or on-demand ride-hailing services.

3. How rides work

Drivers publish scheduled rides in advance, stating the origin, destination, departure time, pick-up and drop-off points, available seats, vehicle details, and price per seat. Passengers search published rides and request one or more seats. The Driver may accept or decline any request at their sole discretion.

Once a request is accepted, the Passenger pays the total fare through the Platform. Funds are held by LekkerLift until the trip is completed and the Passenger provides the Driver with the one-time OTP shown in the app. The OTP confirms the Passenger was present and the trip took place.

4. Pricing and fees

The Driver sets the per-seat price. The Passenger pays the total price for the seats requested. LekkerLift deducts a 20% platform commission from the total fare. The remaining 80% is credited to the Driver’s wallet and can be withdrawn to a verified South African bank account or used for future trips.

All prices are shown in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT where applicable.

5. Cancellations and refunds

Cancellations are governed by our separate Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

6. User conduct

• Be on time, polite, and respectful to other users.
• Do not smoke, consume alcohol, or use illegal substances in the vehicle unless agreed beforehand.
• Do not carry weapons, illegal goods, or hazardous materials.
• Do not arrange payment outside the Platform (“side payments”).
• Do not discriminate against any user on the basis of race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, or any other protected ground.

7. Safety and verification

We verify identity documents, driver’s licences, vehicle registration, and profile photos to improve trust, but we cannot guarantee the behaviour of any user. You use the Platform at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety.

8. Liability

LekkerLift is not liable for accidents, injuries, loss of property, delays, or disputes between users, except where required by law. Drivers are responsible for complying with all traffic laws and maintaining valid vehicle insurance. Passengers are responsible for their own belongings and personal safety.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraud, receives multiple complaints, or poses a safety risk. Users may delete their account at any time by contacting support.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of South Africa.
